- Start your day with a diary noting what you ate in the beginning of the day.

- Never over starve yourself in the quest of losing weight quickly. This would make you to over eat in your next consecutive meal.
- Before eating non-vegetarian food like meat and chicken remove the fat from the meat and the skin from the chicken.
- Never sieve wheat flour or millet flour because it reduces the fibrous content of the grain cutting the roughage from your food.
- Always avoid the repeated heating of the oil.
- The skin of the vegetable contains a lot of nutritious fiber. So avoid using a peeler to peel off the skin of the vegetables. Instead you can use a scrubber on the skin of the vegetables.
- Use more of non-stick pans and vessels in order to cut down the use of excess oil.
- When hunger hits then you should wait for 10 minutes before finally giving in to eating. This may reduce your craving of eating.
- Drink six to eight glasses of water a day. Water itself helps cut down on water retention because it acts as a diuretic.
- Avoid finger foods that are easy to eat in large amounts. Avoid consuming large quantities of fattening liquids, which are so easy to overdo.
- Keep plenty of crunchy foods like raw vegetables and air-popped fat-free popcorn on hand. They're high in fiber, satisfying and filling.
