Former Fen-Phen Users File Case against Wyeth
Five women lodged a case against the Fen-Phen manufacturing company Wyeth on account of succumbing to a fatal lung disease eight years after stopping the intake of the drug. Fen-Phen is a combination of generic Phentermine and Pondimin or Redux and is used as an appetite suppressant.
Renee Tedesco was one among all these women who stated that she had been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension ten years after she had started to use fen-Phen. Her husband Paramus Mayor James Tedesco made it apparent that his wife was a perfect example of people suffering under the havoc unleashed by fen-Phen.Her lawyers also complained against the Wyeth officials for knowingly involved in a false campaign of information and misinformation on whether the medicines Pondimin and Redux are capable of leading to lung diseases years after the users stop their intake.
The legal action by the women ultimately aimed at opposing the claim made by Wyeth that the health risks due to fen-Phen usage continues only for one year after putting an end to the drug use.
