Malaysian Karate Player Tested Positive for 'Phentermine'
Malaysia may be stripped of a silver medal that he won in the month of November, 2005, at the South East Asian Games organized by the Philippine South East Asian Games Committee.
National Karate expert of Malaysia Rayner Kinsiong, had to reduce weight in order to participate in the 75 kg Karate category. He knew this approximately six months before hand that he would be able to participate in that category only if he reduces his weight. Rayner Kinsiong is a regular fighter of under 80 kg kumite category but this particular event was not hosted in the SEA games organized and hosted by Manila SEA games Committee.
As a result of this Rayner Kinsiong cut down on his meals and took some diet supplements in order to reduce his weight to be able to fit into the 75 kg category. These slimming pills unfortunately contained the banned substance 'Phentermine.'
Rayner who has been in the national Karate team since 1999 is expected to be stripped of his silver medal when the Manila South East Asian Games Committee meets this April. On Saturday, Malaysia 's Manila SEA Games chef-de-mission, Low Beng Choo and national chief coach P. Arivalagan confirmed that Rayner had tested positive.
