Now Sleeping Pill May Take Care of Obesity Too
Sleeping pills, we all know, is meant for providing the required sleep to the insomniacs but soon, there may be a sleeping pill in the market which not only provides sleep to a person but also takes care of his obesity as well.
A new sleeping pill is being developed by the scientists that not only would provide sleep but would also be helpful in checking a person's obesity along with the added advantage of enhancing the memory of the person. This pill named as Orexin-RA-1 would be better than the other medicines for weight loss as it would not carry any side effects with it like drowsiness during the day and addiction to the drug. The aim of this new pill is to target the hormone orexin, which is responsible for causing sleep disorders and paralysis in the humans.
The pill has already been tested upon the rats and they gave a favorable response.
This new drug which is being developed by Actelion is still in the research process and may hit the market in the year 2012 if the tests related to it emerge successful. The interesting thing about this new sleeping pill is that it is connected to the eating habits of the humans as well and hence would be effective in treating the problem of obesity as well.
