Physicians From Puerto Rico Indicted For Indulging In Illegal Phentermine Trading
According to U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), seven doctors residing in Puerto Rico have been convicted on the charge of working in close association with internet pharmacies and illegally selling the weight loss drug Phentermine and the painkiller hydrocodone to customers.
It has been found that since 2003, the physicians had been distributing the medicines over the internet and were also deeply involved in wire frauding and money laundering.
The DEA made it clear that on being proved guilty at court, each of the doctors would be fined with a maximum US$6.4 million (euro4.9 million) and would be imprisoned for a period of 20 years.
